BUXTON
For years Derbyshire has been a county with few Fairs of note. Over the last 2 years we have successfully expanded into this county. Buxton had a regular weekly Fair at the Grove Hotel until the organiser 'disappeared' so we were asked to continue, but to hold it for a full weekend once a month. The Grove Hotel on Grove Parade is a landmark venue at the start of the main shopping street and is passed by all those parking and coming from the local park, Opera House and Pavilion.
The Fair is only 6/7 tables but free entry and superb advertising via boards and banners usually get a large number of people through the doors. As Buxton is a holiday town we tend to see a few regulars each month but the majority of customers are from out of the area. Although this is a very good venue for vinyl, CD dealers do exceptionally well here. Stalls £15
2008 dates are 12/13; August 9/10; September 6/7 and December 20/21
CHESTERFIELD
As one organiser said when we decided to do this Fair - "best of luck" - but luck is on our side as this Sunday Fair has turned into a little goldmine of serious collectors coming to the Riverside Club on Hollis Lane. A fully refurbished building after the floods of 2007 with generous length tables, a fully licensed bar, and restaurant. Flat loading with plenty of car parking space on site and in local streets. The venue is only a few minutes walk from the Town centre and local Railway Station. We tend to attract not only local collectors but many from North Derbyshire and South Yorksire, especially Sheffield. Stalls £20
2008 dates are Sundays August 17th, November 23rd.
DERBY
This is a newish Fair for us and started in 2007. It's a great venue within very easy walking distance of the main town centre and even closer now that the new shopping centre has opened. The Aston Court Hotel is opposite the Derby Railway Station on Midland Road. It is ground floor access with on-site parking. Access is from the car park or directly off the pavement on the main road. Our first Fairs have seen collectors from as far as Lincoln, Nottingham, Stoke and Birmingham attending. This Fair is very strong on both vinyl and CD. Please note that initially due to room booking problems we changed this to Sundays but we are now able to go back to our original Saturday dates.
2008 dates are Saturdays July 19th, October 18th.
MATLOCK BATH
This is a new venture this year at the FISHPOND HOTEL on the South Parade Our first outing over Easter proved that this Fair can be a great monthly success. During the holiday months the town is PACKED with holiday makers visiting the two main attractions - the Heights Of Abraham and Gullivers Kingdom, as well as the 4 story Outlet Centre. The main street of Matlock Bath is packed with tourists and it is also a famous rendevous for bikers. Our May Fair brought in collectors from Chesterfield, Birmingham, Derby, Leicester, Stoke, Sheffield and a lot more places. The venue's staff are all fanatical music collectors as well. There is no parking on site but no problems with unloading. There is a MASSIVE car park nearby and the venue sometimes has official free parking passes. Note that we are only allowing a small number of dealers to attend this free entry Fair to give each stallholder lots of space to display. This is a superb venue for CD dealers although vinyl has a very strong following. The room is ground floor and from car to stall is about 8-10 metres. Stalls £15
2008 dates are Saturdays July 26th, August 30th and September13th.
